Dear artists, friends of the gallery, and visitors,

We hereby announce that the exhibition activities of Makers’ Gallery will conclude after Maria Wolfram’s exhibition in the end of May.

Over the course of past six years, we have presented 72 high-quality exhibitions, showcased diverse contemporary art, and created a meeting place for art, artists, and audiences.

The years 2020–26 have been exceptional for us all, and the task has not been easy. A few exhibitions and future projects remained unrealised, but we are proud of everything we accomplished.

Opening the gallery on the brink of the pandemic, along with the global and economic upheavals of recent years, have also affected our situation. To our surprise, however, it was the year 2025 that ultimately broke the camel’s back.

We warmly thank all the artists, partners, and visitors who have made Makers’ Gallery worth every effort.

We will miss the bustle of installation days, the joy of fine results, and the engaging conversations with inspiring people.

We will announce the date of the gallery’s closing celebration at a later time!

Before we say goodbye:

After the winter holiday, the exhibitions will continue as announced until the end of the spring season.

JARI JULA

The artist’s intelligently humorous exhibition De Stijl going strong continues until February 22.

March 3–22  LANA HAGA

Working across sculpture, installation, relief, and sound, Haga creates materially dense forms that draw viewers in through saturated colour and tactile surfaces. The works hold competing states at once—soft and rigid, organic and industrial, seductive and uneasy—remaining in a state of becoming rather than fixed resolution.

March 24–April 5  SARA ORAVA

The artist brings to Vaasa her ethereal yet powerfully present tempera and oil paintings. Her organic visual language, moving at the boundary between figurative and abstract, and drawing from nature, plants, and the human body, resonates both physically and mentally.

April 7–26 AKI KOSKINEN / GÖRAN TORRKULLA

The exhibition depicts personal and local encounters with living nature, inviting visitors to pause and experience its ever-changing, diverse presence with all their senses.

April 28–May 17 MARIA WOLFRAM:

Maria Wolfram’s art draws inspiration and material from mythology, folklore, and contemporary culture, playfully challenging traditional female narratives. Her works examine themes of identity, power relations, and human encounters, often from a feminist perspective. Maria’s exhibition will be the final one at Makers’ Gallery.

Thank you,
